The combined 'surface area' of leaves and stems on a plant is
significant. Hence, when foliage is sprayed with a fertilizer formulation that can be easily
absorbed, there is an outstanding opportunity for nutrient input.
Also, foliar feeding is especially preferable to root feeding
when root up-take is restricted because roots are either too small,
diseased or damaged.
